3 Tips for Sleeping Well on an Airplane

Sleeping well on an airplane ride can be difficult and sometimes next to impossible but there are some things that you can do to ensure you have a much smoother and more comfortable plane ride.  Below are 3 tips for how to sleep well on a plane:

Tip #1 – Make sure your book the proper seat.  Let’s be honest some seats on planes provide a better environment for sleep than others.  If you choose a window seat you’ll always have a wall to lean against when you decide to go to sleep.  Sitting next to a window will also negate being disturb while you sleep by having someone climb over you.  Avoid seats in the last row or exist rows because they lack the ability to recline.  Lastly, stay as far as from the plane’s engine noise by booking a seat as close to the front as possible.

Tip #2 – Make needed preparations before your flight.  Wear clothing that you will feel comfortable and relaxed.  Loose fitting clothing can make your feel free and unencumbered, especially when you’re sitting in cramped spaces.  Also, layered clothing is a good idea because you never know how cool the temperature will feel and besides you can always remove a layer if you need to.  Avoid consuming alcohol or beverages with caffeine at least four hours before your fight because these will interfere with your ability to sleep.
