Acne is one of the most common skin problems in the world. It affects 3 out of 4 teenagers and may range from moderate pimples to severe pustules. This condition is not just limited to teenagers because millions of twenty to thirty year olds also have this condition. Acne can be both an annoying and an expensive problem since people are usually willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of it. Some acne remedies are very effectives, while others may show little or no improvement.
There are several different types of acne. These types include cysts, pustules, papules, and comedones. There are two main types of comedones: closed and opened. An opened comedone is known as a blackhead, while a closed one is called a whitehead. This type of acne occurs when the pores become blocked with oil and infected, turning into a single pimple. Multiple pimples will form together to make up acne.
A papule is an elevated lesion on the skin. This type of pimple is more severe than comedones and is more likely to scar. It is also caused by the sebaceous skin glands and hair roots when they become infected. Papules can occur anywhere on the body, but they are commonly found on the face, back, chest, shoulders, and neck. This is because these body areas produce the most amounts of oil, increasing the chance of them clogging up. Thankfully, there are plenty of acne remedies that work to lessen the severity of large papules.
A pimple is filled with a fluid known as pus. This fluid is made up of bacteria and dead cells. If the pus becomes deeper and larger, it may form into a cyst. The deeper and larger a cyst becomes, the more chance there is of scarring. This is why it is important to get rid of pimples as soon as possible.
